The Grantor’s Tax in Virginia increases from the current $1.00 per thousand dollars of the sales price to $2.50 per thousand dollars EFFECTIVE WITH DEEDS RECORDED ON OR AFTER JULY 1, 2013. For a $600,000 sale, that means that sellers who currently pay a $600 grantor’s tax will soon be paying $1,500.
The City of Alexandria will host the 36th Annual Memorial Day Jazz Festival on Monday, May 27, from1 p.m. to 6 p.m.at Waterfront Park, 1A Prince St. In case of inclement weather, the festival will be relocated to the Lee Center’s Kauffman Auditorium, 1108 Jefferson St. Admission is free.
