Alexandria Virginia is a large city which extends from the Potomac River/Washington D.C. border, North to Arlington, South to Lorton, VA, and to the West to Annandale and Falls Church. The City of Alexandria – The zip code here is 22314 and includes the Historic District (Near the River/King St/Union St) and Old Town, which extends West to the King Street metro area. This area is located “inside” the Beltway (Route 495/95 which circles the D.C. metro area). Real estate and houses for sale inside the Beltway tend to command higher prices and are in higher demand due to the proximity to Washington, DC and the other high density employment areas nearby.

Fairfax County – A large part of Alexandria, Virginia is located outside of the City limits and is in Fairfax County. Any area outside of the Beltway (South of Old Town and 22314) is in Fairfax County. This area extends all the way South to Fort Belvoir, which is the Southernmost part of Alexandria. Lorton is the next city South, followed by Woodbridge. Housing prices vary tremendously in Alexandria depending on location and other factors.
